Phil has been working professionally for 30 years, starting at age 15. In that time he has played thousands of live shows at venues all over the world. He is also a veteran recording musician, with over 1,000 sessions under his belt he is one of the most recorded musicians in Canada and is comfortable on all saxophones, clarinet, flute, and piano. He is also an award-winning arranger and composer, and experienced educator both at the university level, and at his own Music and Culinary Arts academy. Arranging….years of experience working with Canada's best arrangers left their mark on Phil's work, and he is now considered one of the countries finest. Guido Basso, CBC Orchestra, Ian Tyson, Molly Johnson, Quartetto Gelato, Sophie Milman, Michael Kaeshammer, Art Of Time Ensemble, these are just some of the artists who have chosen Phil to deliver well crafted, creative, and on time arrangements for everything from small jazz combo to full symphony orchestra. He was twice named "Arranger of the Year" at the National
Jazz Awards.

Composing….Phil's original music has been heard on jazz recordings by Joe Labarbera, PJ Perry, Roberto Occhipinti, Guido Basso, and his own recordings. He has also received commissions from Amici, Art Of Time, Geordie Macdonald, CBC Radio Music, CBC Radio Drama, Touch Of Brass, Mark Fewer, Hard Rubber Orchestra, and others. His music is also heard on the HDTV show "Rhythm and Blooms". He is available for concert, film, and television work.

Education….Phil is an experienced private teacher, clinician, adjudicator, and consultant. He is available for lessons, in person or via Skype, and is an enthusiastic and focussed member of any festival adjudicating team. His experience includes schools across Canada, the U.S., and Europe. He also welcomes groups to his Vancouver Island home for small group, or one-on-one intensives.
